Job summary

A regional health authority in Abbotsford, BC is seeking a Casual Occupational Therapist to join their Rehabilitation & Recovery team. The successful candidate will provide effective therapy services and work closely with mental health clients across various facilities. Key requirements include graduation from an Occupational Therapy program and 2 years of recent experience. Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Two (2) years recent related clinical experience working with mental health clients.
  • Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC.

Responsibilities

  • Provides occupational therapy assessment and interventions to promote independence and safety.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and caregivers to develop treatment goals.
  • Conducts clinical assessments of each patient's activities of daily living.

Skills

Ability to provide comprehensive assessment for clients living with a mental illness
Knowledge of Psychiatric disorders, medications and side effects
Effective communication skills
Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles
Ability to organize work

Education

Graduation from an approved school of Occupational Therapy
Two (2) years recent related clinical experience
Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC
Eligible for membership in CAOT or BCSOT
