Job summary

On Side is seeking an experienced carpenter to rebuild and restore damaged personal property after disasters, applying skills in carpentry, drywall, and painting to return spaces to pre-disaster condition. The role involves flexible, rotating on-call schedules to support 24/7 response.

Qualified candidates bring 5+ years of interior carpentry, strong leadership, and a meticulous approach to home renovation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years doing interior carpentry repairs/restoration.
• Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers.
• Refined skills with various in-home renovation repairs/restoration vs new build.
• Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do.
• Tools and the skills to use them.
• Strong people and communication skills.
• A safety mindset.
• Willingness to cross train into other departments.
• Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps and software).
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to pass a criminal record check
• Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

Responsibilities

• Finishing work and fine details, rough and trim
• Installation, doors, trim, moldings, baseboards and hardware
• Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
• Drywall repairs, mudding, sanding, taping and finishing
• Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)
• Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
• Insulation and vapour barrier installation
• Cabinetry (removal, repair, reinstallation)
• Flooring installation and repairs
• Framing

Position Summary

Carpenters at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Carpenters or Multi-Skilled Tradespeople use the skills of carpenters, drywallers and painters! If you’re passionate about helping people and skilled at making things right, this is your chance to make a real difference.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $30-$39/hour
