Job summary

On Side Restoration Services Ltd. is hiring experienced carpenters to support our disaster restoration projects in Canada. The role focuses on interior carpentry repairs, from rough framing to finish work, including doors, trim, moldings, drywall, painting, and cabinetry repairs.

You will lead helpers, manage multiple tasks at a single site, and maintain high-quality workmanship with attention to detail. A safety mindset and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years doing interior carpentry repairs/restoration/rebuild focus (flood/fire damage).
• Ability to complete all rebuilds in a single location.
• Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers.
• Refined skills with in-home renovation repairs/restoration vs new build.

Responsibilities

• Finishing work including rough and trim.
• Installation of doors, trim, moldings, baseboards and hardware.
• Repairs to wooden structures; drywall repairs and finishing.
• Painting, ceiling work, insulation, vapour barrier installation.
• Cabinetry removal/repair/reinstallation; flooring work; framing.

Carpenters at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Multi-Skilled Tradespeople use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a Multi-Skilled Tradesperson.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $28-$32/hour

What You’ll Do

• Finishing work and fine details, rough and trim
• Installation, doors, trim, moldings, baseboards and hardware
• Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
• Drywall repairs, mudding, sanding, taping and finishing
• Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)
• Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
• Insulation and vapour barrier installation
• Cabinetry (removal, repair, reinstallation)
• Flooring installation and repairs
• Framing

What You Bring

• 5+ years doing interior carpentry repairs/restoration/rebuild focus (flood/fire damage)
• Ability to complete all rebuild needed in a single location
• Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers
• Refined skills with various in-home renovation repairs/restoration vs new build
• Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
• Tools and the skills to use them
• Strong people and communication skills
• A safety mindset
• Interest in cross training and willingness to help out all team members regardless if the job is related to carpentry duties
• Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps and software to record information)
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to pass a criminal record check
• Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
