The Campus Safety Officer position is responsible to maintain a safe and secure environment for the university community. Their primary responsibilities revolve around the protection of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus. Campus Safety Officer’s aim to prevent and respond to incidents that may compromise the safety, well-being, or security of individuals or property within the campus community. Requirements
The successful candidate will have a two year Community College diploma in Police Foundations, Crisis Intervention or Social Services plus a minimum of one (1) year of previous related job experience. A combination of education/experience will be strongly considered for this role. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Power Point. Skill in operation of communication tools, equipment, computers and relevant software. Proficiency in presentation skills. Must have the ability to communicate ideas clearly, confidently, and persuasively to a variety of audiences. The successful candidate should also have the ability to organize content logically, use visual aids effectively, and adapt their delivery style to suit different contexts. Ability to utilize computer technology used for communication, data gathering and reporting. The following are mandatory certifications that are required for this role: Security Guard License; First Aid, CPR and AED Certification “safeTALK’ (Suicide – Alert Training); ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training); Mental Health First Aid Certification; Violent Threat Assessment Training; Valid G drivers’ license; Clean Drivers Abstract and Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
