Job summary

A clinical-stage oncology company in Hamilton is seeking a Buyer to source materials and manage supplier relationships in the radiopharmaceutical sector. You'll be responsible for negotiating purchases, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in a related field. Strong familiarity with SAP, COUPA, and GMP is highly desirable. Job description

Fusion Pharmaceuticals, a member of the AstraZeneca Group, is a clinical-stage oncology company focused on developing next-generation radioconjugates (RCs) as precision medicines. Fusion connects alpha particle emitting isotopes to various targeting molecules to selectively deliver the alpha emitting payloads to tumors.

Fusion’s clinical portfolio includes: FPI-2265 targeting prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) for metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer currently in a Phase 2 trial; FPI-1434 targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor currently in a Phase 1 trial; FPI-2059, a small molecule targeting neurotensin receptor 1 (NTSR1), currently in a Phase 1 trial; and FPI-2068, a bispecific IgG-based EGFR-cMET targeted radioconjugate currently in a Phase 1 trial. In addition, Fusion is pursuing combination programs between RCs and DNA Damage Response Inhibitors (DDRis) and immune-oncology agents. Fusion has a fully operational Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant state‑of‑the‑art radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility to meet supply demand for Fusion's growing pipeline of RCs.

The Role

As a Buyer at Fusion, you will source materials at the best value for the company, maintaining strong relationship with the suppliers and working collaboratively with cross functional teams to deliver overall company objectives. Responsibilities
  • Source, negotiate, and purchase radiopharmaceutical materials, consumables, and services in alignment with project timelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers; consistently monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including manufacturing, Quality, logistics and supply chain to understand requirements, anticipate demand, and support technical specifications.
  • Monitor inventory levels, manage reordering processes, and prevent supply shortages or overstock.
  • Ensure all procurement activities conform to internal policies, ethical standards, GMP requirements, and applicable laws/regulations governing radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, generate regular spend and activity reports, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts.
  • Identify process enhancements and cost‑saving opportunities within the radiopharma supply chain.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain or Life science or any related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience as a buyer. Preferably in nuclear medicine, pharmaceutical or biotechnology.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., FDA & Health Canada) and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is desirable.
  • Experience working in vendor selection, contract negotiations and managing supplier relationships.
  • Familiar with SAP, COUPA and NetSuite.
  • Digital mindset, data-driven decision making and inquisitive nature.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to lift and move materials (up to 40 pounds) and follow safe lifting procedures.
