Business Systems Analyst Actuarial Data Integration

Experience Level : L2 (mid 4~9 years)

The Business Systems Analyst - Actuarial will help the Group Functions Technology Actuary team at Manulife streamline the coordination between the actuarial teams and the technical data engineering groups. Working within a structured delivery team, you will gather and clarify requirements, facilitate alignment, and minimize the effort required by technical teams to engage directly with business users. This role is ideal for an intermediate level analyst who is looking to grow technical and / or actuarial acumen in data infrastructure and actuarial reporting systems.

Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from actuarial users and managers for data pipelines and reporting processes.
  • Conduct data analysis and profiling of data warehouse fields back to the source system feeds.
  • Act as a liaison between actuarial teams and ETL / data engineering groups, translating business needs into actionable technical specifications.
  • Support incremental delivery by clarifying priorities, surfacing risks and dependencies, and ensuring backlog items are well defined.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with business and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and reduce coordination overhead for engineering teams.
  • Document business rules, data flows, and transformations to support actuarial analysis and technical implementation.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL processes, and reporting systems (hands-on experience not required but beneficial).
  • Strong understanding of SQL and data warehousing concepts and principles.
  • Proactive and organized approach to managing ambiguity, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
Domain Knowledge
  • Business Analysis: 3-5 yrs BSA experience; growing understanding of actuarial / data workflows
  • Technical Awareness: Familiarity with ETL / reporting concepts and data pipeline basics
  • Collaboration & Facilitation: Facilitates cross-team discussions; maintains RAID logs
  • Bonus : Familiarity with insurance industry operations, actuarial workflows, or financial modeling concepts.
