Department Overview

As part of the UMBJ (Understand My Business Journey) you will be joining the Story Of the Customer product family group, which is focused on utilizing data, insights, and tools to understand the evolving needs of customers, aiming to increase share of wallet and strengthen relationships.

Within the Story of the Customer PGO is the Data and Analytics Pod which focuses on recurring reporting, advanced analytics for non-recurring requests & analytics on business performance.

The Data Business Partner is responsible for enabling data-driven decision making, by acting as the primary liaison between Business Banking groups and technical analytics teams. This role ensures that business priorities are translated into actionable data initiatives and that analytical solutions deliver meaningful value to customers and colleagues. The role is designed to support the bank's strategic goal of becoming the #1 Business Bank in Canada.

Core Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and communicate actionable insights that support business growth, enhance customer experience, and improve colleague productivity.
  • Act as the coordinator between various Journeys for model monitoring attestations, ensuring performance of machine learning models, accuracy, stability, and compliance with enterprise governance standards.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of data and analytics roadmaps that support enterprise and Business Banking objectives.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of business banking products, customer needs, and industry trends, as well as current and emerging data and analytics capabilities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate data-driven insights into business processes, colleague tools and customer engagement strategies.
Team Management
  • Skilled at working across multiple business lines, ability to drive decisions, build consensus and gain stakeholder buy-in without formal reporting relationships
  • Experienced in leading discussions, and working groups to bring diverse perspective together
Required Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify opportunities where data can drive efficiency, innovation, and business value
  • Strong ability to synthesize technical insights and communicate them effectively to business stakeholders.
  • Communication and storytelling ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders at all levels
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Data Science, Analytics, Economics, or related discipline. A graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in Business Banking, financial services, or related fields.
  • Senior communication skills (written/verbal), presenting/business casing/influencing senior leaders and cross functional stakeholders
  • Perform data analysis, determine strategic conclusions and present strategic analysis to senior stakeholders (storytelling)
  • Nice to have Small Business Banking & Commercial banking experience
