Overview

Global Public Affairs (Global) is looking for a talented, early career professional to join our Ottawa office as an Associate Consultant. This full-time position, based in Ottawa, offers a positive work environment and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the country. The Associate Consultant role is an entry-level position for candidates with 0-2 years of experience.

The ideal candidate will be well-organized, proactive, a strategic thinker, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience in government, public policy, energy or communications is considered an asset but is not required. We are looking for a team player who is client service-oriented, organized across projects, and enjoys a fast-paced team atmosphere. Reporting to the federal Director of Global’s Energy, Environment and Resources practice group, this position offers a positive work environment and the opportunity to collaborate with a well-connected network of colleagues across the country.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare briefing materials, presentations, lists and communications products.
  • Take a proactive role in supporting the team across files and internal practice activities, including capturing notes, follow-ups and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Monitor parliamentary activity and the policy development process.
  • Organize meeting programs and coordinate follow-up.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to gather information and facilitate coordination as part of a collaborative team outreach approach.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong writing and research skills.
  • Understanding of the legislative and parliamentary process with an active interest in politics, the policy process, and current events.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal and written means with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to build effective relationships to achieve individual and organizational success.
  • Post-secondary degree in politics, business, public administration, or an energy, resource or environment-related discipline.
  • Ability to register under the Lobbying Act, with no restrictions.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
