A local government entity in Fraser Lake seeks an Arena Ice Plant Operator/Maintenance to support critical service delivery from mid-September to March 31st. This position is structured to support a number of scheduled leaves of absence within the Village of Fraser Lake Public Works Department. The position will support critical service delivery to ensure no service disruptions. The Arena Ice Plant Operator/Maintenance position at the Fraser Lake Community Centre and C.H. Foote Memorial Arena requires specialized skills, training, and certification to ensure safe and efficient operations. The seasonal hours are from mid‑September to March 31st of every calendar year with an opportunity for the position to start earlier at the discretion of the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities include operating and maintaining the ice arena, curling rink, and related facilities; learning and applying ammonia ice plant safety procedures and regulatory requirements; performing maintenance tasks, regulatory checks, and accurate record‑keeping; and completing required training and provincial certification.
The role also involves installing, removing, and maintaining ice surfaces for hockey, figure skating, and public skating, as well as operating equipment such as the Olympia Ice Resurfacer and electric ice edger. Additional duties include responding to customer inquiries and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment. The position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to positive customer service. Supervision is provided by the Director of Operations or their designate, who may inspect work for compliance with standards.
Position, could lead to a permanent full‑time work in the summer upon a positive work performance and availability within the work plan.
