The Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) performs professional work in the provision of emergency and medical care to clients in a variety of settings. This position will play a key role in supporting the Virtual ER model in Central Zone's rural facilities, working very closely with the Virtual ER team and will travel throughout the region as needed. Work involves performing independent advanced medical care and intervention to clients at pre-hospital scene settings, during transport and within healthcare facilities. The ACP conducts physical examinations; performs comprehensive assessments and tests; interprets a variety of tests and procedures; and initiates a variety of advanced interventions. The successful candidate provides primary client care by surveying the emergency situation and taking any necessary action. The ACP is an integral team member of facility-based response teams including but not limited to the Code Blue Response team and the Code White Response team. The ACP also functions as a leader and a mentor within the paramedicine program, as well as a preceptor for advanced and primary care paramedic students. The Paramedic is an integral member of the Emergency Department team, providing care, based on their scope of practice to patients in the ER, in collaboration with nursing staff and physicians. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
