A municipal government agency in Burnaby seeks an Accounting Clerk 1 for an auxiliary position focusing on data entry and general accounting procedures. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing invoices, and ensuring accurate financial records. Location: West Building
Hours of work: this is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. Typical shifts are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Your responsibilities include data entry for accounting transactions; general accounting procedures such as Accounts Payable and Receivable; preparing invoices; preparing batches for processing; input, scanning and filing; and simple account reconciliation. You’ll perform related work as required.
To qualify, you are required to have completed Grade 12 including or supplemented by bookkeeping and commercial courses plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You are detailed oriented with experience in data input and verification procedures and also understand modern office practices, are familiar with relevant software to process financial information with speed and accuracy. You’re an effective communicator and know that great communication between your co‑workers and those outside of Finance is vital to helping the department run smoothly. This is important since you’ll be relaying basic information to internal and external contacts in a way that’s both accurate and professional. This is a fast‑paced work environment where you can apply your meticulous and analytical nature, and you’ll work with like‑minded individuals who work speedily and accurately. You’ll take great satisfaction in knowing your hard work and dedication will support not only the Finance department, but the community at large.
