Location

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant for the BC Place Stadium.

Sodexo Live! is the Official Supplier of Food and Beverage Services to BC Place Stadium. BC Place is a multi‑purpose stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Located at the north side of False Creek, it is owned and operated by the BC Pavilion Corporation, a Crown corporation of the province. Home to BC Lions, Vancouver White Caps, Concerts and Live events, the facility hosts welcomes hundreds of thousands of fans each year, while generating significant economic activity for the Province.

Job Overview

The Accounting Assistant is an entry level accounting position which requires strong numbers orientation, problem‑solving skills, research skills, computer skills and attention to detail.

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing accounting support to the Accountant, Unit Controller, or other management personnel within the business unit. They will perform basic accounting tasks such as reconciling daily cash and receipts, ensuring files are complete and maintained, assisting with accounts receivable or payable duties, and other functions to generally support the department. This position may be found in a variety of Sodexo Live! business environments of varying size and volume, to include convention centers, sporting or events arenas or other entertainment‑related venues. The Accounting Assistant will typically work as part of a larger accounting team.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Support the Accounting function and maximize Sodexo Live!'s revenue and operational excellence through performance of varied accounting tasks and duties.
  • Reconcile daily cash and receipts.
  • Assist the Accountant with sundry Income Audit and data entry tasks.
  • Assist the Accounts Payable Specialist with Accounts Payable duties.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager with payroll‑related duties, such as compiling timesheets.
  • Assist with the administration duties when required.
  • Ensure full compliance with corporate‑established policies & operating procedures at all times.
  • Contribute to goal of making Sodexo Live! #1 in Event Hospitality and the #1 Employer of Choice through personal commitment and leading by example.
  • Other duties and tasks as required.
Qualifications/Skills
  • High school diploma, some college and/or appropriate combination of education and work experience to support on‑the‑job effectiveness.
  • Six months of previous experience or exposure to accounting principles and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising appropriate skills for effective judgment, creative problem solving and taking initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to deliver and interpret information across various sources.
  • Exceptional ability to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Numbers orientation, with ability to accurately compute various mathematical equations.
  • Exceptional computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Other Requirements
  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly‑quartered environment.
  • Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
