Established in 2015 and based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC (formerly Altera (Atlantic) Management ULC) provides crude oil marine transportation services and manages crude oil shuttle tankers operating on the East Coast of Canada.

MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the below position working offshore Atlantic Canada. This a contract position for 12 months with a 12-hour workday.

Vessel: Maran Thule

Position: 2nd Officer / SDPO - Available 2 positions

Annual Salary: $160,000

Rotation: Approximately four months on/off

Contract: March 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027

Position Summary

Second Officer/SDPO required to stand bridge watches, operate, and navigate the vessel safely. Second Officer/SDPO should have specific knowledge to the maintenance requirements of the bridge equipment and is the Senior Dynamic Positioning Officer.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
  • Proficiency in English required
  • 3+ years experience in rank
  • Bahamas Flag Chief Officer (COC), Class 2
  • Bahamas Flag Tanker Safety (Oil) Endorsement
  • Unlimited Dynamic Positioning Operator Certificate
  • Current Dynamic Positioning - Offshore Loading Certificate
  • HLO Certificate
  • Bahamas Flag GOC Endorsement
  • STCW Basic Safety
  • STCW Survival craft other than a fast rescue craft
  • STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
  • Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
  • Bridge Resource Management Certificate
  • Pusnes BLS 5th generation Operator Course
  • Valid Passport
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
Responsibilities
  • Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
  • Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
  • In charge of all bridge equipment operation / maintenance records and notifying the Master in case of any noted defect(s).
  • Performing cargo watches in port as per instructions from Chief Officer.
  • Acting as the Safety Officer (SO) on board and responsible for all duties related to this role
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for carrying out regular inspections
  • Demonstrate safety awareness
