Qualifications

POSITIONSUMMARY

The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Liaison servesas the primary point of contact between Mushkegowuk Council and the CanadianCoastGuard. The role is responsible for developing and strengtheningrelationships with Mushkegowuk communities, advancing marine awareness andsafety initiatives, supporting emergency preparedness and responsecoordination, and ensuring effective information sharing between communitiesand federal partners.

This position plays a keyrole in building community capacity, improving service delivery, and ensuringthat marine security and safety needs of Mushkegowuk communities areunderstood, represented, and addressed.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Experienceworking with Indigenous communities in northern or coastal contexts.
  • Strongunderstanding of marine safety, emergency management, and intergovernmentalrelations.
  • Demonstratedability to facilitate engagement sessions, consultations, and surveys withdiverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent writtenand verbal communication skills, with experience drafting reports, briefingnotes, and presentations.
  • Ability to travelfrequently and on short notice within the Mushkegowuk region.
  • Culturalcompetency, respect for Indigenous knowledge, and ability to workcollaboratively with community leadership.
  • Proficiency inMicrosoft Office including database applications.
  • SatisfactoryCriminal Records Check
  • Fluency in theCree language would be an asset.
  • Standard FirstAid and CPR
  • Valid G or G2Driver’s license.
