Description

Legal department is responsible for providing legal support and assistance to the Group, including more than twenty subsidiaries.

The work is carried out in close cooperation with the other functions within the company and active participation in the day-to-day business.

The legal department has offices in Stockholm, U.K., Hong Kong, Beijing, China, ATLANTA, and Sao Paulo.

The Senior Legal Counsel, Brazil is an emerging legal leader with demonstrated expertise in

  • (1) sophisticated transactional matters, including negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts;
  • (2) general corporate legal and business matters within the assigned region / territory; and
  • (3) litigation management.

Reports to the SVP Legal Affairs, Americas with a dotted line to the V.P., Region South America.

This position is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil and is part Americas Legal Shared Service Center (SSC), which provides Legal support for Elekta's activities within North America and South America.

Responsabilidades e atribuições
  • Handles all legal matters pertaining to Region South America and Brazilian legal entity.
  • Directly supports the VP, Region South America and is a member of the RSA Management Team.
  • Works closely with all attorneys in the legal group and shall be part of a dedicated, productive, high quality, and high energy international legal team.
  • Incorporates CIA Values and quality systems into all department functions and responsibilities.
  • Responsible for advising assigned clients with regard to any and all other legal issues.
  • Interacts with senior leadership on key corporate transactions by providing prompt, practical, and commercial oriented advice.
  • Handles complex commercial contracting matters, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing a variety of contracts for various business units.
  • Manages litigation, arbitration, settlement negotiations and outside legal resources.
  • Assists with acquisitions, divestitures, and restructurings.
  • Collaborates, facilitates, and implements legal and risk management strategies to assigned business units.
  • Develops and implements best practices, including the proactive development of forms, templates, and training materials to streamline transactional processes.
  • Acts as a resource / mentor for other members of the team.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by senior management.
  • Develops and provides training to business clients.
Requisitos e qualificações

  • Graduate from a top-tier law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Member in good standing with the relevant local bar association (or equivalent).
  • 8+ years of full-time practice as a licensed attorney with a mix of top-tier law firm and in-house legal experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and efficient.
  • Strong sense of ethics, integrity, and sound judgement.
  • Must have an attitude that no job is too big or too small, must be client / customer focused, and must accept responsibility for and own outcomes.
  • Must be able to strike sensible and practical balance between legal risks and the need to do business.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as the ability to lead with strong organizational, time management, and project management skills, including experience developing creative solutions to transactional problems.
  • Strong commercial transactions experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sophisticated transactional matters, negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts.
  • Experience managing litigation and outside counsel.
  • General understanding of laws and regulations relating to patient / data privacy, corporate compliance, anti-corruption and anti-competition.
  • Knowledge of the Medical Device Industry, including Regulatory knowledge (FDA, MDR, etc.) is a plus.
  • Sound and relatively broad knowledge of general business and commercial, contract, and commercial law.
  • Must speak and write Portuguese, Spanish and English fluently.
