We have two part-time staff development nurse positions available within the Perioperative Department : Staff Development Nurse Operating Theatre (0.5 FTE / 38 hours per fortnight) and Staff Development Nurse Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (0.74 FTE / 56 hours per fortnight).

We are seeking two suitably experienced nurses to join the Surgical Directorate Clinical Education Team for the roles of Staff Development Nurse Operating Theatre and Staff Development Nurse Post Anaesthetic Care Unit.

In collaboration with the Nurse Educator, Surgery and the departmental Clinical Nurse Manager, the Staff Development Nurse is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the knowledge and skills of nursing staff in the designated unit, the planning and implementation of specific education and training programs and the provision of support for new staff, including orientation and preceptorship.

• Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of ongoing comprehensive education and professional development programs to meet the identified learning needs of the department staff.
• Conduct training needs analysis to determine learning needs of staff and plan, prepare and manage required training and development activities.
• Coordinate and facilitate unit-based orientation and in-service programs to enable nurses to attain and sustain competency in clinical performance.
• Evaluate learning outcomes and effectiveness of training and professional development programs.
• Monitor clinical and professional development of staff, address deficits and monitor progress.
