Unisys in Canberra is seeking a Technical Field Engineer to be the onsite expert who restores services, troubleshoots complex issues, and keeps critical government technology running when it matters most.

You’ll work directly with federal government staff, supporting desktop, laptop, printer, hardware, software, and networking technologies in an onsite environment. This role offers hands-on problem solving and opportunities to build practical field engineering skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months' experience in a deskside support environment.
  • Experience with fault investigation, triage, and issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of desktop/server hardware and networking troubleshooting.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Active NV1 or NV2 Australian Security Clearance (mandatory).

  • Provide onsite technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in a deskside support setting.
  • Install, configure, maintain hardware and software in a Windows environment.

As a Technical Field Engineer supporting a federal government client in Canberra, you'll play a key role in maintaining secure, reliable, and mission-critical technology environments. Working onsite, you'll support end users and infrastructure across desktop, laptop, printer, hardware, software, and networking technologies.

Every day brings a different challenge. From troubleshooting hardware faults and software issues to deploying devices and supporting Windows environments, you'll be the person customers trust to deliver effective solutions and an outstanding support experience.

This role offers excellent exposure to a variety of technologies while developing valuable field engineering and customer engagement skills.

What You'll Do
  • Provide onsite technical support for desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral devices.
  • Investigate, diagnose, triage, and resolve technical issues in a deskside support environment.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related components.
  • Support users within a corporate Windows environment.
  • Perform printer installation, deployment, configuration, and disposal activities.
  • Build, upgrade, and diagnose PCs and associated hardware.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service and maintain customer satisfaction throughout every interaction.
  • Contribute to a secure, reliable, and high-performance technology environment for a federal government client.
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum 6 months' experience in a deskside support environment.
  • Experience with fault investigation, triage, and issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of desktop support, server support, hardware, networking, and software troubleshooting.
  • Strong hardware diagnostic and PC build/upgrade capabilities.
  • Experience with printer deployments and support activities.
  • Test and Tag experience is highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Active NV1 or NV2 Australian Security Clearance (mandatory).
