Job summary

Australian Unity Limited is hiring carers to support older Australians living independently at home in Mackay and surrounding areas. You will provide compassionate in-home care, assist with daily tasks, and offer companionship.

Entry-level carers handle household tasks, while experienced carers also provide personal care and medications support. Training is provided, with part-time casual opportunities and options for flex shifts.

Qualifications

• Live and work in Mackay and surrounding areas.
• Hold Australian Driver’s Licence and own a comprehensively insured car.
• Available to work a minimum of 6 hours per day between 8am–6pm across 3–4 weekdays (occasional weekend rosters for experienced carers).
• Able to complete the 2-week paid training program.
• Passionate about working in in-home and aged care.

Responsibilities

• Entry-level tasks: cleaning, laundry, meal prep and household support.
• Experienced carers: personal care (showering, toileting, medications), social support and domestic duties.
• Provide companionship and brighten clients' day.

About You

• Live and can support our customers in Mackay and surrounding areas
• Hold an Australian Driver’s Licence and own comprehensively insured car (no international licence/shared vehicles)
• Available to work a minimum of 6 hours per day within the hours of 8am – 6pm, ideally across 3–4 weekdays (some weekend rosters may be available for experienced Carers)
• Able to complete our 2-week paid training program
• Passionate about working in in-home care, with a focus on aged care

What We Offer

• Open to entry-level and experienced carers
• $34.80 - $36.59 p/h + super
• Paid travel time + $1.33 p/km allowance + company phone
• Contract:
• New Entrants: Casual contract
• Experienced Carers (12+ months experience and/or relevant qualification): 30 – 40 hours per fortnight + flex up shifts

As a valued team member, you’ll provide compassionate care and support to clients in their homes.Domestic assistance will form a significant part of your role – this applies to both our entry-level and experienced carers.From helping with household tasks to offering personal support, you’ll make a real difference in people’s lives every day.
