Job summary

KBR Australia is seeking an Export Controls & Compliance Lead to guide governance of international trade, licensing and regulatory compliance for major defence projects. This role partners with leaders to shape outcomes across Australia’s defence initiatives and ensures project-level compliance across internal partners and suppliers.

The successful candidate will bring ITAR/FMS expertise, strong stakeholder management and the ability to manage complex, time-critical export controls activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce or related discipline; 5+ years in defence or related industry.
• Proven experience in managing global export controls activities, risks and issues.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams under deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent the organisation at global internal and regional external forums on export controls and compliance.
• Identify licensing requirements and risks for projects and develop plans to obtain, maintain and manage authorisations.
• Provide advice on classifications, regulations and commodity codes for project products.
• Support shipments and re-transfers to ensure compliance with licences, laws and regulations.
• Track and improve performance and maintain traceability of licence conditions across the organisation.
• Develop training and act as a contact for export controls topics.
• Support digitisation and automation of export controls processes.
