Job summary

KBR is seeking an Export Controls & Compliance Lead in Australia to steer international trade and export controls across the defence sector. You will work with the Commercial Director to ensure governance and project-level compliance and lead risk assessments with mitigations.

The role requires deep ITAR/FMS knowledge, AU citizenship or security clearance eligibility, and the ability to coordinate with global teams on licensing, classifications, and regulatory changes while driving process

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of ITAR/FMS and export control frameworks across AU/US and international jurisdictions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce or similar, or 5+ years’ equivalent defence industry experience.
• Experience managing global export controls activities, risks and third-party recipients/retransfers.
• Ability to meet time-critical deadlines and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Represent the organisation at global internal and regional forums on export controls and compliance.
• Identify licensing requirements and risks for projects and manage authorisations.
• Provide advice on classifications, regulations, and commodity codes for project products.
• Support shipments and re-transfer of export-controlled material to ensure compliance with licences and laws.
• Track licence conditions and improve traceability across the organisation.
• Develop and provide training on export controls and related topics.
• Support digitisation and automation of export controls processes.
