Newtown Hotel in Newtown, NSW, is seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join our team. This full-time role oversees daily hotel operations, delivers exceptional guest service, and leads front-of-house and back-of-house teams during shifts.

You will ensure health and safety compliance, manage cash handling, training, scheduling, and guest issue resolution, while maintaining high standards across all areas. RSA & RCG certification and a hands-on, proactive leadership style are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years as Duty Manager in a hotel or similar venue.
• Strong leadership and staff supervision skills.
• Proven ability to manage guest services and operations.
• Solid knowledge of health, safety, and licensing regulations.
• Experience with cash handling and end-of-shift reconciliation.
• Proficiency with hotel management systems and POS.

We are seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join the Newtown Hotel team in Newtown, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our establishment. As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring exceptional service standards, maintaining operational excellence, and delivering an outstanding experience to our guests and patrons. This position is integral to the success of our hospitality business and provides the opportunity to lead and inspire a dedicated team in a dynamic hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all daily operations and ensure the hotel runs smoothly and efficiently during assigned shifts
• Manage front-of-house and back-of-house staff, including scheduling, supervision and performance management
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and licensing regulations across the premises
• Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally to maintain customer satisfaction
• Monitor and manage inventory, stock levels and ordering of supplies and beverages
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and facility maintenance throughout the hotel
• Process financial transactions, manage cash handling and ensure accurate end-of-shift reconciliation
• Liaise with senior management and communicate any operational concerns or incidents
• Train and mentor staff to uphold service standards and promote a positive workplace culture
• Respond to emergencies and implement appropriate protocols to ensure guest and staff safety

What we're looking for

• 2+ years experience as a Duty Manager in a similar sized hotel or hospitality venue
• Strong knowledge of hotel operations, guest services and hospitality best practices
• Ability to work in a face paced environment and have a hands on management style
• Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with guests and team members
• Competency in handling difficult situations and resolving conflicts with diplomacy and professionalism
• Solid background in all facets of hotel operation including: Cash up, Gaming, F&B, Functions and Cellar areas
• Comprehensive understanding of health, safety, liquor licensing and hospitality regulations
• Proficiency with hotel management systems and point-of-sale software
• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
• Great attention to detail
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
• Current RSA & RCG
