Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team in Córdoba, Argentina. You will design, build, and operate large-scale data infrastructure on AWS, collaborating with data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to turn raw data into reliable assets.

You'll implement scalable pipelines with AWS Glue, manage data lake architecture on S3, and drive data governance and quality. 8+ years of experience and strong Python/SQL skills are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software or data engineering experience
• Strong Python programming skills; PySpark or Spark (Scala) for large-scale data transformation
• Deep expertise with AWS data services: S3, Glue, Athena
• Solid SQL fundamentals
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Design scalable data pipelines and cloud data lake architecture on S3
• Define data quality standards and governance
• Lead design discussions and mentor engineers
• Collaborate with data scientists and product managers to translate requirements into data models and pipelines
• Contribute to ADRs and technical documentation
