Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team in Córdoba. You will design, build, and operate large-scale data infrastructure supporting cybersecurity products and analytics on AWS.

You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to transform raw data into reliable, governed assets driving product decisions. You will mentor engineers, lead design discussions, and ensure data quality and governance across pipelines, Lake formation, and catalog

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software or data engineering experience.
• At least 4 years focused on cloud data platforms.
• Strong Python programming and PySpark/Scala experience for large-scale transformations.
• Solid SQL fundamentals with complex analytical queries.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design discussions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable data pipelines on AWS to ingest and transform petabyte-scale datasets.
• Build and maintain cloud data lake architecture on S3 with proper partitioning and schema management.
• Enforce data quality standards with validation, anomaly detection, and SLA-driven alerts.
• Define engineering best practices: CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/CDK), DataOps.
• Lead technical reviews and mentor junior engineers across projects.
• Collaborate with data scientists and product managers to model data assets and pipelines.
• Champion data governance and privacy-by-design across data assets.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
