Job summary

Proofpoint in Córdoba, Argentina is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and operate large‑scale data infrastructure that underpins our cybersecurity products and analytics. In this senior IC role, you will own end‑to‑end data pipelines on AWS, collaborating with data scientists, product engineers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software or data engineering.
• 4+ years of experience on cloud data platforms.
• Strong Python and PySpark/ Spark (Scala) skills.
• Solid SQL fundamentals and analytics querying.
• Excellent communication with both engineering and stakeholders.
• Proven mentoring and technical-design leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable data pipelines on AWS for petabyte-scale datasets.
• Build and maintain cloud data lake architecture on S3 with Glue Data Catalog.
• Establish data quality, validation frameworks, and alerting.
• Define engineering best practices: CI/CD, IaC, and DataOps.
• Mentor engineers and influence the technical roadmap.
• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and product managers.
• Champion data governance, lineage, and privacy-by-design.
