Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team in Córdoba, Argentina. You will design, build, and operate large-scale data infrastructure and cloud-native tooling on AWS, partnering with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable data assets that drive product decisions.

You'll implement scalable pipelines, govern data, and mentor engineers while shaping the technical roadmap in a global cybersecurity environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience, with 4+ years in cloud data platforms.
• Strong AWS data services expertise and experience building scalable data pipelines.
• Proficient in Python and PySpark for large-scale transformations.
• Excellent communication and mentorship skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines on AWS for petabyte-scale datasets.
• Define lake architecture on S3 with proper partitioning and catalogs.
• Enforce data quality standards and SLA-driven alerting.
• Advise on engineering best practices: CI/CD, IaC, DataOps.
• Mentor engineers and guide architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with data scientists and product managers on models and pipelines.
• Promote data governance and privacy-by-design.
• Troubleshoot incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
