Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team in a hybrid capacity. You will own the reliability and delivery of data pipelines, build AWS-first infrastructure, CI/CD, and DevOps tooling to enable data teams to ship data products quickly and safely.

You’ll work at the intersection of platform and data, shaping automation, observability, and secure, scalable data infrastructure across Glue, Athena, S3, and related services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps/platform engineering or SRE.
• Strong AWS core services expertise.
• Hands-on with Glue, Athena, S3.
• Proficiency with IaC tools - Terraform or AWS CDK.
• CI/CD design and maintenance experience.
• Containerization and orchestration skills.
• Observability and incident response experience.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment of AWS Glue ETL jobs, Athena views, and data infra.
• Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using IaC (Terraform &/or CDK).
• Own observability stack for data pipelines (metrics, logs, alerts).
• Develop and maintain DataOps self-service tooling and templates.
• Manage container and compute infra (Docker, ECS/EKS) for data ingestion services.
• Operate workflow orchestrators (MWAA/Airflow) incl. upgrades and scaling.
• Build and maintain Glue ETL jobs for data lake ingestion/transformation.
• Enforce security best practices (secrets, IAM, networking).
• Collaborate with data teams to deliver scalable infra solutions.
• Lead incident response and post-mortems; mentor juniors.
