Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team in a hybrid role. You’ll own reliability, automation, and delivery of data pipelines and analytics capabilities, building cloud infrastructure (AWS-first) and CI/CD tooling to help data teams ship high-quality data products faster and safely.

You’ll design and operate pipelines with AWS Glue, Athena, and S3, enhance observability, security, and scale, and mentor others on DevOps and data engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE with data eng
• Deep AWS core services experience (S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda)
• Hands-on with Glue ETL, Athena workgroups, and S3 lifecycle/ encryption

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AWS Glue ETL jobs
• Build and manage AWS-based infrastructure using IaC (Terraform / CDK)
• Own observability: metrics, logs, alerts for data pipelines
• Develop DataOps self-service tooling and templates
• Manage container infrastructure (Docker, ECS/EKS/Lambda)
• Operate workflow environments (MWAA / Airflow / Step Functions)
• Build Glue ETL jobs for large-scale data ingestion
• Enforce security best practices across data platform
• Collaborate with data/ security teams
• Lead incident response and post-mortems
• Mentor junior engineers and review designs
