Lever, Inc. seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale distributed systems using Java and Python in a 100% remote LATAM setup.

You will own features end-to-end, work with AI-assisted development workflows, and help drive reliability and performance in a fast-moving startup.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in software engineering with strong backend and distributed systems experience, plus Docker/Kubernetes in production.

Formación

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years of professional experience with Python, building and maintaining production-grade backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM-based development and AI agents.
• Experience building AI-driven features or agentic workflows in production.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup environments.
• Advanced English level

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
