Lever, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python. You will own features end-to-end and collaborate with a fast-moving, highly technical team in a remote LATAM-friendly setting.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, AI-assisted development workflows, and strong ownership in startup environments. Excellent English is expected, with Docker/Kubernetes production experience.

Formación

• 8+ years of software/backend experience.
• 5+ years with Python for production systems.
• Strong Java experience.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based development experience.
• Experience with distributed systems and async processing.
• Docker & Kubernetes in production.
• Strong ownership and startup/fast-paced adaptability.
• Advanced English level.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
