Unknown is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives in startup environments and enjoys building scalable systems from the ground up. You will design, build, and maintain distributed services using Java and Python, with a strong ownership mindset.

Work 100% remotely from LATAM, collaborating with a highly technical team and embracing AI-assisted development workflows to boost productivity while preserving quality. Docker, Kubernetes, databases, and message queues are part of daily work.

Formación

• 8+ years of software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years with Python, building production-grade backends.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based application development experience.
• Experience with distributed systems and scalable architectures.
• Experience with databases and message queues.
• Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Startup or fast-paced environments with ownership.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
