Role & Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage benign and malignant cancers
- Stage cancer and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide evidence-based cancer care and symptom management
- Monitor disease progression, treatment response, and complications
Medical Oncologist Responsibilities
- Prescribe and manage chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormonal therapy
- Monitor and manage treatment‑related side effects and toxicities
- Provide palliative care and pain management when required
- Coordinate long‑term cancer survivorship care
Surgical Oncologist Responsibilities
- Perform biopsies and cancer surgeries
- Manage pre‑operative and post‑operative cancer care
- Assess surgical candidacy and coordinate with other specialists
Radiation Oncologist Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver radiation therapy
- Use advanced techniques like IMRT, IGRT, brachytherapy
- Monitor radiation response and manage radiation‑related side effects
Diagnostic & Evaluation Responsibilities
- Interpret imaging, pathology, and laboratory reports
- Order and evaluate tumor markers and genetic tests
- Participate in tumor board discussions
Patient Care & Counseling
- Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations
- Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options
- Obtain informed consent
- Provide psychosocial support and end‑of‑life counseling when required
Administrative & Documentation
- Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH guidelines, and medico‑legal standards
- Follow infection control and chemotherapy safety protocols
Emergency & On‑Call Duties
- Manage oncological emergencies, such as:
- Febrile neutropenia
- Tumor lysis syndrome
- Spinal cord compression
- Superior vena cava syndrome
Teaching & Research (if applicable)
- Train residents, fellows, nurses, and paramedical staff
- Participate in clinical trials, audits, and research
- Attend and present at CMEs, conferences, and workshops
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, radiation therapists, nurses, and palliative care teams
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards
Preventive & Public Health Roles
- Promote cancer screening and early detection programs
- Educate patients on lifestyle modification and cancer prevention
Qualifications
- MS/MD
- Experience: Post MD/MS 4 years of experience
- Salary Package 270000 INR to 700000 INR per month
