Job summary

A prestigious primary school in Dubai is seeking dedicated UAE Nationals for the Teaching Assistant role. You will support teachers in classrooms for children aged 3-11, helping with various learning activities and maintaining a positive environment. Ideal candidates have a good education background in Maths and English and strong communication skills. The position is full-time, term time only, working Monday to Friday from 7:15 am to 2:45 pm.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant or working with children preferred.
  • Must hold a UAE Passport and Family Book.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.

Job description

This position is for Emirati UAE Nationals Only - Must hold a UAE Passport and Family Book.

GEMS Jumeirah Primary School is located in Dubai in Al Safa 1. We are an outstanding KHDA rated primary school, following the British curriculum. We are looking for hard working, dedicated, enthusiastic, positive UAE Nationals to come and work at our diverse school, where we put children’s learning and wellbeing at the top of everything we do.

We have Teaching Assistant (TA) vacancies to start immediately, within our Classrooms working with children aged 3-11 years old.

The role of a TA is to support the Teacher in all aspects of learning:

  • Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Assist the teacher with reading related activities.
  • Run small group activities inside or outside the classroom as directed by the teacher.
  • Prepare and tidy up classroom activities. Mount work displays and assist with preparation of displays.
  • Photocopy documents and assist with preparation of worksheets etc as requested.
  • Responsible for covering class for short periods of time in emergency situations.
  • Tidy and rearrange stock cupboards and distribute new stock.
  • Take children to toilet and change/clean them when necessary.
  • Develop familiarity with relevant aspects of the curriculum eg literacy, numeracy and Phonetics.
  • Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
  • Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Ensure tact, confidentiality and discretion at all times. Maintain confidential information and ensure information pertaining to students and the school is not shared or discussed without the approval of the teacher or senior management team.
  • Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers / supervisors.

This would be a full time position working Monday – Friday (7:15am-2:45pm Mon-Thur & 7:15am-12pm Fri)

Working term time only.

Skills

Qualifications / knowledge:

Good level of general education especially in Maths and English.

Strong communication skills with excellent standard of written and spoken English. ICT skills desirable. Able to handle a range of tasks, work under pressure and relate well to children and colleagues.

Experience

Previous experience as a teaching assistant or working with children preferred.
