Mastercard is a technology company in the global payments business, connecting cardholders, customers, financial institutions, merchants, governments, and businesses worldwide.

Mastercard Commercial Solutions is responsible for building and commercializing products and services to reduce complexity, cut costs, and automate processes in the B2B and travel payments ecosystems. The Commercial Solutions team aims to grow Mastercard's market share in Corporate and Travel & Entertainment cards.

We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join our global legal team, supporting the Commercial Solutions team engaged in product development and sales.

Role

This Senior Counsel role requires strong commercial acumen and experience in supporting new product development in the financial services space. Responsibilities include :

  • Partnering with product, sales, franchise, marketing, and other teams to develop and launch innovative products and solutions.
  • Structuring and negotiating contracts, including technology agreements, customer, and vendor agreements.
  • Collaborating with regulatory, compliance, data protection, and IP counsel to navigate legal risks.
  • Supporting business development teams in product sales initiatives.
  • Advising on commercial and contractual matters, legal and business risk assessments.
  • Handling daily legal matters and special projects.
  • Ensuring policy compliance and providing training.
  • Managing external counsel within policy and budget.

All About You

Qualified lawyer with a strong academic background, licensed in the relevant jurisdiction. Extensive legal experience, preferably including in-house roles. Familiarity with laws in banking and payments is a plus. Strong business acumen, negotiation skills, and experience with technology and data privacy issues are required. Ability to work independently, handle multiple jurisdictions, and work under pressure is essential.
