Job description

Procurement Engineer Mechanical is responsible for managing the day‑today procurement of mechanical and HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ductwork, ventilation systems, controls and all related accessories.

The role focuses on preparing RFQs, conducting technical and commercial evaluations and coordinating effectively with Material Engineers, suppliers, Engineering and Site teams. The position ensures timely procurement, full technical compliance and cost control for all mechanical and HVAC packages.

  • Execute the procurement of HVAC systems and materials including:
    • Chillers
    • Boilers
    • Pumps
    • Fans
    • Pipes and ducts
    • Other related HVAC components
  • Prepare RFQs and RFPs with accurate scope drawings, specifications, BOQs and draft contract documents.
  • Coordinate with the Material Engineer on:
    • Material submittals
    • PQ (PreQualification) documents
    • Technical compliance matrices
  • Prepare due diligence reports for new vendors and subcontractors.
  • Float enquiries to approved vendors and subcontractors.
  • Perform technocommercial evaluations and prepare detailed comparison sheets.
  • Conduct technical and commercial clarifications with suppliers.
  • Support negotiations on pricing, delivery terms, warranties and technical compliance.
  • Prepare procurement recommendations and award documentation.
  • Issue Contracts, POs and LOIs in line with approvals and the authority matrix.
  • Maintain procurement logs and long‑lead item trackers.
  • Ensure strict compliance with BESIX procurement procedures.
Weekly/ Monthly Jobs:
  • Track procurement status against the baseline program.
  • Coordinate with Engineering on approvals and design changes.
  • Liaise with site teams regarding delivery priorities and constraints.
  • Identify procurement risks and propose suitable mitigation measures.
  • Support value‑engineering efforts and alternative sourcing initiatives.
  • Provide weekly procurement status updates to the MEP Procurement Manager.
Qualifications :
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical/HVAC procurement or execution within the construction industry.
  • Experience working on large‑scale building, high‑rise, mixed‑use, industrial and infrastructure projects (Tier 1 contractor experience preferred).
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, pumps, fans, ducting, piping, controls and related mechanical packages.
  • Proven ability to manage long‑lead items, mission‑critical systems and vendor delivery schedules.
  • Hands‑on experience with RFQ/RFP preparation, technical & commercial evaluations and supplier negotiations.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and procurement processes within EPC/main contractor environments.
  • Proficiency in ERP and e‑procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, JDE, IFS or similar).
  • Strong understanding of MEP coordination interfaces with electrical and civil disciplines and overall project sequencing.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, BOQs and project specifications.
  • Experience conducting supplier due diligence, pre‑qualification and performance evaluation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Planning, QA/QC, Commercial and Site teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple procurement packages simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills and commitment to cost control, compliance and quality.
