Job Objectives
The Procurement Engineer investigates the market with pre-defined specifications and performance test requirements to facilitate procurement of parts and equipment. They will analyze technical and commercial data and conduct thorough RFQ comparison between suppliers to achieve the optimal outcome for PSI. The Procurement Engineer will issue orders, track and expedite deliveries, and help to develop the performance of existing suppliers.
Responsibilities and duties
- Identifying all the requirements from requisitions issued by service, project or engineering department
- Create and maintain request for quotations, with effective comparison between bids
- Timely ordering of equipment, materials and systems complying to Quality, Budget and Specification requirements.
- Ensure timely tracking and expediting of all materials to ensure material availability
- Ensure suppliers are appropriately measured and developed to improve delivery performance, quality and cost improvement.
- Measure and track Purchase Price Variance for key materials and commodities
- Ensuring that all procurement processes comply with the ISO Standards.
- Assist with contract negotiation for key suppliers
- Provide suppliers with key feedback including delivery performance, quality, average lead times, and cost variance.
- Drive cash flow improvement related to Payment Terms, Lead Times, Consignment stock and Purchase Price Improvement related to key suppliers.
- Develop and maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Maintain company reputation & credibility by fair dealings.
- Manages the periodic reevaluation of suppliers
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the immediate Supervisor / Manager.
Accountabilities
- Develop, implement and drive the procurement strategies in order to meet cost savings targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or any related course.
Years of Experience
Minimum of 3 years in Industrial / Manufacturing Field
Skill Set
- Experience in an engineering, procurement and operations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with ERP systems and networking
- Ability to analyze bills of material and drawings to understand key requirements
- Knowledge and direct experience in negotiating contracts and quotations with Contract Manufacturers and Suppliers
- Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities.
