Job description

500 Global is a venture capital firm with $2.2B in assets under management investing in more than 3000 companies across 80 countries. With a global team of 180 members in 27 countries we partner with founders, investors and governments to build thriving startup ecosystems through innovation and capital.

We are seeking a highly experienced investment professional to help advance 500 Global’s climate investment efforts focusing on emerging markets and scalable solutions across the Global South. This role will play a key part in identifying high-impact opportunities and supporting the growth of companies addressing critical climate challenges. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in climate-focused investing, a proven record of delivering measurable climate and financial outcomes and a strong network across the climate capital stack and founder ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and evaluate high-quality direct investment opportunities from seed through Series A/B stages with a focus on climate sectors including CleanTech, AgriTech, NatureTech and related sustainability fields.
  • Lead investment execution across the full lifecycle: evaluation, structuring, negotiation and closing.
  • Provide hands‑on support to founders and management teams in emerging markets, particularly in navigating complex regulatory environments, scaling in resource‑constrained contexts and building resilient sustainable business models.
  • Monitor portfolio performance using financial, operational and climate impact metrics; make informed recommendations on follow‑ons, strategic support and exit pathways aligned with fund objectives.
  • Engage actively with limited partners, DFIs, catalytic funders and co‑investors, helping to communicate the fund’s activities and strengthen alignment around our investment thesis.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, macro‑trends and policy developments shaping climate innovation to support investment decision‑making.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader investment team to drive portfolio success and foster partnerships across our climate initiatives.
Key Requirements
  • Extensive venture capital or growth investing experience with a clear focus on climate-focused sectors and scalable solutions in emerging markets.
  • Demonstrated track record of backing or building ventures that delivered intentional measurable climate outcomes (mitigation, resilience, adaptation) alongside strong financial performance.
  • Strong sector fluency—understanding how AgriTech, CleanTech and NatureTech solutions operate in emerging markets and ideally experience scaling technology in resource‑constrained environments.
  • Well‑established network across the climate capital landscape including DFIs, catalytic funders, institutional LPs and high‑impact founder ecosystems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to represent the fund’s work effectively across diverse audiences.
  • Deep commitment to sustainability and ethical investment practices fully aligned with 500 Global’s mission and values.
  • Location is flexible; we are open to the right candidate based anywhere globally.
