Role Context

The Operations Supervisor helps keep Amazon's operational network moving efficiently during each assigned shift. Depending on the facility, the role may support fulfillment activities, sortation processes, or final-mile delivery preparation. The position combines frontline leadership with real-time operational decision-making. The supervisor will review performance metrics, allocate labor based on changing workloads, coach associates, identify safety opportunities, and work with support teams to resolve problems that could affect service, productivity, or order quality. The role is particularly important during periods of changing demand, where quick decisions and accurate communication help maintain smooth customer order flow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily shift activities within an Amazon fulfillment center, sortation center, or delivery station.
• Maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards and addressing safety improvement opportunities.
• Supervise and train associates to support reliable customer service and operational execution.
• Ensure customer orders are handled according to required safety, quality, and process standards.
• Review shift metrics and team assignments at the start of each operational period.
• Communicate critical shift information to frontline managers, operators, and associates.
• Adjust labor allocation throughout the shift according to forecasts, workload changes, and operational priorities.
• Monitor workflow performance and take timely action when execution falls behind plan.
• Coach associates on new processes, operating requirements, and productivity expectations.
• Work with maintenance, quality, training, and other support functions to resolve operational issues.
• Maintain process-area readiness and support effective 5S workplace organization.
• Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Use structured problem solving to improve process efficiency and resource utilization.
• Respond to equipment, workflow, or process challenges without losing focus on safety and customer service.
• Coordinate with colleagues across different functions to ensure operational problems are resolved efficiently.

• Help ensure staffing and workload decisions remain aligned with daily operating plans and forecasts.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a High School Diploma. The role is suited to someone comfortable working in a fast-moving operational environment where priorities can change throughout the shift. Previous exposure to logistics, warehouse operations, fulfillment, distribution, transportation, retail operations, or team coordination would be useful. Familiarity with data analysis tools or process improvement methodologies is preferred.
