Job description

Business Development – Reinsurance (MGA)

Location: Dubai, UAE
Type: Full-time
Reporting to: Founder / Managing Director
About the Role

We are a growing reinsurance MGA based in Dubai, focused on Property and Energy lines. We are looking for a commercially driven Business Development professional whose core mandate is simple and measurable: bring in quality facultative and treaty business and help assemble additional underwriting capacity to support growth. This is not a marketing or relationship‑maintenance role. It is a front‑line revenue and capacity‑building position, suited to someone who understands how reinsurance actually gets placed, negotiated, and scaled.

Key Responsibilities
Business Origination
  • Source and originate facultative and treaty reinsurance accounts in Property and Energy.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of cedants, brokers, and producing partners across target regions.
  • >Lead commercial discussions from initial introduction through mandate, placement, and renewal.
  • Work closely with underwriting to ensure submissions are market‑ready and commercially attractive.
Capacity & Market Development
  • Identify, engage, and help secure additional capacity providers (reinsurers, carriers, capital partners).
  • Support negotiations on terms, limits, structures, and delegated authorities where applicable.
  • Help diversify capacity sources to reduce concentration and improve long‑term sustainability.
  • Contribute to structuring new products or facilities aligned with market appetite.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
  • Provide insight into market pricing, appetite shifts, and competitive dynamics in Property and Energy.
  • Identify gaps or underserved niches where the MGA can deploy capital effectively.
  • Feed real‑time market intelligence back into underwriting and strategic planning.
Relationship Management
  • Maintain senior‑level relationships with cedants, brokers, and markets.
  • Represent the MGA at industry meetings, conferences, and targeted roadshows.
  • Act as a trusted commercial face of the business in the market.
Candidate Profile
Experience
  • Proven experience in reinsurance business development, broking, or underwriting.
  • Direct exposure to Property and/or Energy lines.
  • Demonstrated track record of originating deals and/or building market relationships that convert into revenue.
  • Experience working with facultative and/or treaty structures.
Location & Mobility
  • Based in Dubai (or willing to relocate).
  • Willing to travel as required for business development and market engagement.
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary with performance‑linked incentives tied to production and capacity outcomes.
  • Extremely flexible working hours.
  • Direct exposure to senior decision‑making and the ability to shape the MGA’s growth trajectory.
  • A platform with ambition, flexibility, and room to build something meaningful rather than maintain legacy structures.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to judge deal quality, not just volume.
  • Deep understanding of how reinsurance capacity is sourced, negotiated, and maintained.
  • Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, fast‑moving MGA environment.
  • Self‑starter with minimal need for supervision—this is a role for someone who creates momentum.
  • Clear communicator, confident with senior counterparties.
