The Medical Practitioner operates under the supervision of the Consultant Physician and/or Specialist Physician, and shares responsibility for delivering high quality, evidence-based patient care.

Responsibilities
Managerial/Administration
- Supports and adheres to all established initiatives, policies and procedures as requested.
- Participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
- Participates in committees and working groups as requested.
- Assumes other administrative duties as requested by the senior physicians.
Technical
- Under the supervision and with the consent of senior physicians, the post holder examines, diagnoses, and treats patients as assigned.
- Participates in daily ward rounds and reassesses inpatients and outpatients as clinically appropriate, and as directed by the Consultant and/or Specialist.
- Oversees the organization of tests, chases and records results.
- Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established protocols.
- Reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment in a timely manner with approval of the Consultant or Specialist physician.
- Supervises and supports Interns as determined by the Consultant Physician.
- Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
- Helps oversee preparation of patients for procedures/surgery including obtaining informed consent.
- Admits appropriate referrals accepted by the Consultant or Specialist Physician from the Emergency Department, primary care, specialty clinics, walk‑in patients and patients referred from other hospitals.
- Provides out of hours (on call) coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Communicates information to patients and families and friends (with consent of the patient) in a timely manner.
- Maintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team‑based approach to patient care.
- Complies with all hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, prescribing and discharge protocols, outpatient and follow‑up practices.
- Adheres to established policies regarding patient confidentiality and informed consent.
- Performs other clinical responsibilities as assigned.
Quality & Safety
- Helps support quality improvement within the Department according to established policies and procedures.
- Participates in regular clinical audit.
Education
- Actively involved in continued medical education and professional development opportunities.
- Participates in regular teaching sessions and provides teaching for interns and medical students as requested.
- Participates in clinical research activities in the department.
- Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry.

Required
- For Non-UAE Nationals: NLT 2 years relevant experience post internship (Hospital, P.H.C, ER, etc).
- For UAE Nationals and Non-UAE National graduates of UAE medical schools: no additional experience required after successful completion of internship.
- Special Note: Non-UAE Nationals accepted into HAAD accredited residency programs through TANSEEQ will not require additional experience after successful completion of internship.
