Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on a variety of legal topics and managing complex matters with multiple stakeholders. Key responsibilities include
Corporate and Commercial Transactions
- Lead the legal aspects of corporate structuring, including the incorporation of new entities and joint ventures in key markets.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial agreements, including distributor agreements, inventory management contracts, and lease agreements for office and operational facilities.
- Provide legal oversight on distributor relations, including renewals, non-renewals, terminations, and related dispute resolution.
- Manage legal workstreams for strategic projects, office relocations, and the closing of business entities in compliance with local regulations in Morocco and other jurisdictions.
Privacy and Data Protection
- Ensure company-wide compliance with evolving privacy and data protection laws in Middle East , North and Sub-Sahara Africa relevant jurisdictions.
- Advise on data transfer requirements and assist in amending regional agreements to include necessary privacy provisions.
- Support the global privacy team on various initiatives, including the review and localization of privacy notices for customers, employees, and third parties.
- Provide legal guidance in the event of a data breach, ensuring compliance with all notification and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Analyze and advise on complex regulatory issues across the region.
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on potential legal issues related to business decisions and operations.
- Collaborate with management to devise efficient strategies for compliance and defense.
- Monitor changes in legislation across the Middle East , North and Sub-Sahara Africa regions to ensure the company remains compliant.
Digital and Technology
- Review and advise on the terms and conditions for digital products and applications.
Assist the privacy team with the development and review of privacy notices for mobile applications
Qualifications
- Law degree (J.D., LL.B., or equivalent) from an accredited institution and an active license to practice law.
- A minimum of [e.g., 2-4] years of relevant legal experience, either at a top-tier law firm or as in-house counsel for a multinational corporation.
- Proven experience in corporate and commercial law within the MENA region, with a strong preference for candidates with direct experience in the GCC.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law, data privacy regulations, and commercial procedures.
- Outstanding negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations, provide sound judgment, and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
