Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Junior Process Safety Engineer as part of our Process team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be full‑time office based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Description for Internal Candidates
Objectives – Junior Process Safety Engineer
  • Lead and execute site safety assessments to support construction, installation, and engineering activities with precision and adherence to safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain safety control points, benchmarks, and reference systems to ensure accurate layout and alignment of pipelines, structures, and equipment.
  • Ensure full compliance with project safety specifications, industry regulations, and client requirements across all technical safety operations.
  • Supervise and guide safety engineering teams, assigning responsibilities and ensuring timely, high‑quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and Technical Safety teams to resolve safety‑related discrepancies and support seamless project execution.
  • Manage safety documentation and data, including risk assessments, safety plans, and compliance records.
  • Maintain and calibrate safety monitoring instruments and tools, ensuring operational readiness and accuracy.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols during field activities, proactively identifying and mitigating risks related to terrain, equipment, and operations.
  • Monitor construction progress from a safety perspective, conducting regular site inspections and reporting findings.
  • Provide expert input during audits and inspections, representing the safety discipline in client and contractor meetings.
  • Mentor junior safety engineers, promoting a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely reporting of safety observations, deviations, and recommendations to project management and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Discipline engineer in one or more integrated in‑house /contractor teams handling multiple project responsibilities
  • Execute technical work for FEED and Detailed Designs (designs, specifications, drawings, etc.) within designated CTR scopes
  • Maintain excellent HSE performance throughout the engineering phase of the project life cycle.
  • Implement, practice and Monitor Quality Management System (QMS) in FEED office projects in line with ISO 9001‑2015 and API Q2 2nd edition requirements
  • Carry out appropriate discipline and inter discipline checks and reviews of engineering and design work
  • Contribute to the development of execution contracting strategies that compliment designs, construction methods and operating methods
  • Remain engaged in design issues and decisions throughout construction, commissioning and start‑up
  • Create demonstrable value for customers by understanding their drivers and critical success factors
  • Capture/apply internal and external learnings and incorporate improvements
  • Deliver continuously improving performance, benchmarked as top tier in the industry
  • Time write correctly each week
  • Ensure own discipline engineering and design work are successfully delivered and appropriate reviews conducted
  • Ensure quality of technical work and the technical integrity, functionality, constructability, safe operation and reliability of designs
  • Involved in multiple engineering reviews and provide sound design inputs
  • Contribute to excellent HSE performance throughout the engineering phase of the project life cycle
  • Maintain effective interfaces and relationships within/between disciplines, and peers in other EP Projects teams and Assets
  • Emphasize on Development of young TSE engineers
  • Provide guidance and advice on Technical Safety matters in a consistent manner in line with that agreed within the team
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years atleast 5 years in oil & gas and 4 years in FEED/Engineering experience.
  • Bachelor in Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Experience in the Middle East is preferred
  • Be a team player where recognition of team performance as a whole is a greater priority than projecting individual contribution
  • Be able to work in a team environment and handle multiple project responsibilities
  • Assuring that work and project promises are successfully delivered and appropriate reviews have been conducted
  • Establishing and maintaining engineering processes, systems and tools (software)
