About the job

Based at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Housekeeping Department, The Head Florist is responsible for the flower arrangement in the guest rooms and public area, under the guidance of Director of Housekeeping and within the limits of the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental. The Head Florist reports to the Director of Housekeeping.

As a Head Florist, you will beresponsiblefor the following duties:
  • Order and receives all fresh flowers on a daily basis.
  • Keeps accurate records with regards to order, receiving, distribution to guest rooms, public areas, F&B outlets, Banquet facilities and Flower Shop.
  • Establish and carries out the flower replenishing schedule for public areas, F&B outlets and floors.
  • Supervises and executes the daily touch up of all flower arrangements in the public area.
  • Forwards the supply requirements to the Director of Housekeeping for purchase once a week.
  • Keeps contact with flower supplier to ensure the flower selection is variable and the prices competitive.
  • Keeps himself up to date for different and unusual flowers, display combinations etc.
  • Ensures the Flower Shop is clean and Flowers on Sale are always fresh and well presented.
  • Supervises, trains and retrains the Florist to ensure constant high quality.
  • To assign responsibilities to staff members, implementing multi-tasking and periodic performance checks.
  • To assist in the planning the weekly working schedules to ensure that the section is adequately staffed to handle the levels of business.
  • Attends and visits Floral Exhibitions whenever possible, to keep abreast of the competition.

  • Previous experience in the same role in luxury property, resort experience is a plus
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to guide and inspire the floral team.
  • Pleasant, creative, and outgoing personality with a passion for floral design.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
