Job description

Implementation of DP World GHSE strategy, standards, guidelines and programs with an overall focus of risk reduction. Participate in the delivery of DP World’s philosophy of zero harm to our people & the environment with a focus of elimination of serious injuries and fatality (SIF) incidents in all group entities. This will include HSE governance activities, oversee program strategies, cultural & behavioural change, technical & soft skill enhancement, and providing advice to our group portfolio companies including Divisional and Business Unit (BU) Safety & Environment (S&E) advisors and management.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Assist the Group Vice President Operational Safety – Ports, Terminals & Marine in the implementation of the strategic plan of group health, safety & environmental goals and targets.
  • When delegated, act on behalf of the Group Vice President Operational Safety – Ports, terminals & Marine, during periods of absence and business travel, specifically as the primary point of contact.
  • Undertake HSE audits, assessments and risk baseline assessments. Identify non-compliances and improvement opportunities and develop reports for site, regional and group senior management.
  • Investigation of serious injuries; as the lead investigator or part of investigation team and where required communication of findings and recommendations throughout the business.
  • Monitor corrective action program(s) to mitigate identified high risk operations by determining the needed course of action and working directly with business unit(s) in the implementation of the risk reduction controls.
  • Advise and assist operating entity S&E managers in the practical application of DP World standards including leadership, risk reduction measures and commitments to live by programs.
  • Maintain continual improvement leadership at all levels of the organization through the implementation of programs, standards, hierarchy of controls, training, and implementation of best practices.
  • Assist management with the identification of regulatory requirements and compliance measures at all levels of the organization and group companies.
  • Assist with the planning, review and management of special projects.
  • Provide project management for business entity HSE programs and initiatives to ensure successful completion including on time and budget.
  • Liaise with corporate, regional, and group companies’ departments in support of joint HSE initiatives & projects.
  • Liaise with the People Department related to the development of health, safety & environmental training programs.
  • Analyze and prepare reports regarding group wide incidents to assist in the identification of trends, solutions and development of applications and share best practice throughout the business.
  • HSE Application Management – provide feedback to Group Vice President Operational Safety – Ports, terminals & Marine and Group Vice President SSG on opportunities to enhance and improve corrective elements / modules of GHSE IT Systems.
  • Support the implementation HSE training programs in line with GHSE standards and protocols as assigned.
OTHER

Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Formal health, safety & environmental, or appropriate, qualification to Diploma / Degree level,

Minimum 8 years’ practical experience in health, safety & environmental; 3 of which must be at a leading management level position.

Minimum 5 years’ experience working in heavy industrial environments,

Proven experience in leading incident / accident investigations,

Proven facilitator of training programs.

Experience in the development and management of corrective action projects.

  • Experience in liaising with government, regulatory, industry and labour organisations.
  • Project and program management experience.

Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels within the organisation and lead / mentor workgroups and individuals.

Ability to recognise issues, analyse, formulate and implement appropriate solutions.

Excellent verbal, written communication, good computer & software skills, report writing and administrative skills.
