Overview
The Geotechnical Design Engineer at APEC Industries will work on various civil and geotechnical projects, providing expertise in foundation design, earthworks, and subsurface analysis for infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the company’s business goals and contribute to improving technical capabilities within the team.
- Develop and enhance geo-synthetic and composite systems by discovering new materials, establishing specifications, and identifying potential applications in projects.
- Research and evaluate major geo-synthetic and composite materials produced by international manufacturers; assess their technical specifications and determine suitability for use in different construction projects.
- Produce design calculations to support the use of these materials.
- Carry out site investigations to assess subsurface conditions, analyze soil, rock, and groundwater properties, and evaluate the stability of natural slopes and man-made soil deposits.
- Design appropriate foundations and earthworks for buildings, roads, and other infrastructure based on investigation findings.
Qualifications & Skills
- Engineering degree (Master's or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus)
- 5 to 15 years of experience in geotechnical and coastal engineering design
- Proficiency with geotechnical design software, including PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W, Settle3D etc
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation design, and material properties
- Experience in producing design calculations and technical reports
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
