Responsibilities
Landscaping & Garden Maintenance
- Supervise daily gardening operations, including planting, watering, pruning, mowing, fertilizing, and pest control.
- Ensure all landscaped areas, lawns, flower beds, and decorative plants are well-maintained and aligned with the hotel’s aesthetic standards.
- Monitor plant health and implement corrective measures as needed.
- Plan seasonal landscaping and garden enhancement projects.
2. Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead, train, and schedule the gardening team to ensure effective performance and productivity.
- Conduct regular briefings and assign daily tasks to team members.
- Provide coaching and support to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, and overall performance of gardening staff.
3. Equipment & Material Management
- Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of gardening tools, machinery, and equipment (mowers, trimmers, irrigation systems, etc.).
- Maintain inventory of plants, soil, fertilizers, tools, and other materials.
- Request necessary supplies in a timely manner to support continuous operations.
4. Irrigation & Water Management
- Oversee operation and maintenance of irrigation systems to ensure adequate watering of all areas.
- Troubleshoot irrigation issues and coordinate repairs with the Engineering team if required.
5. Safety, Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all gardening work is performed in compliance with safety procedures and environmental guidelines.
- Report hazards, damaged facilities, or potential risks to the Engineering Manager.
- Implement eco-friendly practices whenever possible.
6. Collaboration & Reporting
- Coordinate with the Engineering Department and other hotel teams (Housekeeping, Recreation, etc.) for outdoor area requirements.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on garden maintenance activities, staff performance, and material usage.
- Assist in planning landscaping budgets and improvement projects.
Requirements
- Diploma or certification in Landscaping, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in gardening or landscaping; supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of tropical plants, soil, irrigation, and pest control.
- Ability to operate landscaping tools and equipment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good understanding of plant species suitable for coastal/tropical environments.
- Ability to maintain large outdoor areas such as beaches, pathways, recreational spaces, and natural landscapes.
- Awareness of sustainability practices and environmental protection measures for island ecosystems.
