Job Overview
The Field Specialist IV is a senior technical role responsible for planning, executing, and supervising advanced oilfield operations, with a specialization in fishing and downhole tool services. This role demands extensive experience in open-hole and cased-hole fishing, Plug and Abandonment (P&A) projects, and Whipstock/Sidetrack operations including section milling. Acting as the primary liaison with the client at the wellsite, the Field Specialist IV ensures the safe and efficient delivery of high-quality services. The role also involves mentoring junior field employees, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving continuous improvement in field execution and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and supervision of complex field operations related to fishing and downhole interventions, including whipstocks, sidetracking, and section milling.
- Maintain a high standard of safety, compliance, and operational integrity in accordance with Weatherford policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, JHAs, toolbox talks, and contribute to the development of a strong safety culture.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot downhole and fishing tools; ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely before and after operations.
- Collaborate with the R&M team for equipment repairs and participate in Root Cause Analysis for any failures.
- Ensure proper documentation of job‑related data, including field reports, observation cards, service logs, and failure reports.
- Serve as the key technical contact for the client on‑site; communicate job progress, technical updates, and resolution plans effectively.
- Monitor field data and make informed decisions to improve service efficiency and client outcomes.
- Supervise and mentor junior field personnel, providing guidance and performance feedback.
- Conduct engineering checks and support software updates or calculations as needed on location.
- Maintain effective inventory management and readiness of tools and supplies required for operations.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across field operations.
- Contribute to team training efforts; promote knowledge sharing and capability building.
Skills
- Strong technical knowledge in fishing, P&A operations, section milling, and whipstock/sidetrack services
- Proficient in wellsite data interpretation, troubleshooting, and job planning
- Skilled in using job‑specific software, performing basic engineering calculations

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Technical certificate or some college coursework.
- 5‑10 years of oilfield operations experience.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on field experience in fishing and downhole tools.
- Proven experience with open‑hole and cased‑hole fishing, Plug and Abandonment, section milling, and Whipstocks/Sidetracks.
- Prior experience managing or mentoring field crews and acting as the primary client contact on‑site.
- Willingness to work on a 24/7 on‑call basis and in remote field environments.
