Job Overview

The Field Engineer III is responsible for applying and supervising engineering best practices in field operations related to Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), including Victus, Underbalanced Drilling (UBD), Air Drilling (AD), Rotating Control Devices (RCD), and Downhole Deployment Valves (DDV). The role focuses on executing approved engineering designs, ensuring compliance with Weatherford's technical and safety standards, supporting clients during operations, and mentoring junior field engineers while working under the supervision of the Engineering Manager or Project Engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite MPD engineering support to clients
  • Implement basis of design and recommendations developed during the planning phase
  • Rig up, operate, and troubleshoot MPD and RCD equipment with minimal supervision
  • Support equipment preparation, green tagging, commissioning, maintenance, and shipping activities
  • Operate semi-automatic and manual MPD systems, including monitoring UBD chokes, DDV, land RCD, and multiphase separators
  • Connect sensors to data acquisition systems, collect, interpret, and troubleshoot operational data
  • Manage and operate single-phase and multiphase hydraulic simulators, supporting well balancing and drilling calculations
  • Interact with rig crews, advising drillers and clients on operational events and potential risks
  • Prepare daily reports, end-of-well reports, and maintain accurate well data and databases
  • Participate in HAZOPs, well planning meetings, and drilling simulations
  • Review, modify, and develop MPD drilling procedures and technical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with Weatherford quality systems, HSE standards, and best practices
  • Train, mentor, and assess Field Engineers I and II, including competency assessments when qualified
  • Provide client training and contribute to technical papers and proposals
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and performance tracking updates
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize downhole and surface drilling data
  • Stay informed on Weatherford products that can enhance drilling and completion performance
  • Perform additional MPD-related duties as assigned by management
