Job Title: CNC Setup Technician (Milling & Turning)

Job Summary
The CNC Setup Technician will be responsible for the complete setup, preparation, and commissioning of CNC milling and turning machines to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality production. The role requires hands‑on expertise in machine setup, tooling, fixture alignment, and blueprint interpretation for multi‑axis CNC machines. The technician will work closely with production, programming, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations and adherence to machining standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete machine setup for CNC milling and turning operations, including job loading, fixture alignment, and tool setup.
- Set up and operate the following CNC machines:
- Doosan DNM 750 Milling Machine (4‑axis)
- Doosan PUMA 2100LY Turning Machine
- Haas 750 Milling Machine (5‑axis)
- Interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Load and verify CNC programs, conduct dry runs, and ensure machine readiness before production.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, and work offsets based on job requirements.
- Measure and inspect first‑off components using precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Make necessary adjustments to machine settings to achieve optimal quality, tolerance, and surface finish.
- Support production teams by troubleshooting setup‑related issues and minimizing downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality procedures, and machining best practices.
- Maintain setup documentation, tooling records, and machine setup sheets.
Essential Qualifications
- Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, CNC Machining, Tool & Die, or a related technical discipline.
- Mandatory hands‑on setup experience of 3–5 years in CNC milling and turning machines.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings (mandatory).
Skills & Competencies
- Proven expertise in CNC machine setup for 4‑axis and 5‑axis milling and advanced turning machines.
- Strong knowledge of tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and machining processes.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
- Good understanding of CNC machining principles, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
- Ability to identify and resolve setup and machining issues efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with production and engineering teams.
