Job summary

A leader in mechanical engineering is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Shop Supervisor in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves overseeing daily CNC operations, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met. Candidates should have over 10 years of CNC machining experience, ideally in API-licensed facilities, and strong programming skills. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. This position may involve managing operations across international locations and travel as needed.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for daily CNC machine shop operations to achieve production, quality, and delivery targets.
    • Operations include machining, shot peening, phosphating, cold rolling, drilling, honing and activities for premium & API threaded connections for OCTG, monogram products for drilling & pressure control equipment and manufacturing products for other industries.
    • Monitor machine utilization, manpower allocation, tooling, and production schedules.
    • Review CNC programs, machining methods, and cutting parameters to support in reducing cycle time, scrap, rework, and tooling costs.
    • Interpret engineering drawings, models, GD&T, and specifications.
    • Act as Manager‑in‑Charge during the absence of the Machine Shop Manager.
  • Coordinate with sales, purchase, quality and HSE teams for fulfilling department requirements for smooth operations.
    • Enforce shop‑floor discipline, quality awareness, and safe work practices. Ensure compliance with HSE standards and safe operating procedures.
    • Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Participate in API audits, customer inspections, support root cause analysis for non‑conformances and drive corrective/preventive actions.
    • Assist in development, qualification and maintain compliance of premium connections, API Q1 and monograms products under API 5CT, 7-1, 6A, 16A, 16C & other licenses as required by company.
  • Provide hands‑on expertise in CNC programming and troubleshooting for lathes, mills, and other CNC machines.
    • Supervise shop‑floor personnel including supervisors, machinists, programmers, and inspectors.
    • Support training, skill development, and performance monitoring of team members.
    • Ensure adherence to inspection plans, traceability requirements, gauge calibrations, and documentation.
  • May be required to supervise, support, or manage CNC machine shop operations across multiple international locations, including periodic overseas travel.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in CNC machining with API-licensed facilities (5CT, 7-1, 6A, 16A, 16C).
  • 3–5+ years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
  • Proven hands‑on experience in premium threaded connections (OCTG / proprietary threads).
Skills
  • Strong proficiency in CNC programming (Fanuc / Siemens).
  • Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerances, metallurgy, and cutting tools.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software and manufacturing design.
  • Experience with premium thread gauges, inspection methods, welding and qualification processes.
  • Experience with ERP/MES systems.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
