Job Summary

Our client is a well-established insurance broker based in Dubai, offering tailored personal and commercial insurance solutions across the UAE. They are seeking an Assistant General Underwriter to support their growing team in Dubai. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in the insurance industry in a similar role, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to provide administrative and operational support to both the underwriting team and clients.

Role Summary

The Assistant General Underwriter will provide vital support to the underwriting function across various lines of general insurance, such as property, liability, engineering, or miscellaneous classes. The role involves assisting with quotations, risk data collection, policy documentation, and coordination with brokers and internal teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quotations & Risk Assessment
    • Assist in preparing competitive quotations across various lines of general insurance.
    • Collect and analyse relevant information such as risk exposure details, previous claims, and asset specifications.
    • Support rating accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Policy Issuance & Administration
    • Assist in preparing and issuing new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
    • Maintain accurate and complete underwriting documentation in compliance with local insurance regulations.
    • Process mid-term adjustments and ensure all changes are correctly recorded.
  • Broker and Client Support
    • Respond to broker and client queries relating to general insurance products and coverage terms.
    • Help maintain strong relationships through responsive and professional service.
  • Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure all underwriting tasks align with UAE Insurance Authority (IA) regulations and internal policies.
    • Assist in maintaining documentation for audits, regulatory reviews, and internal reporting.
    • Support the preparation of underwriting reports and tracking of portfolio performance.
  • Claims Coordination & Processing
    • Assist in the initial review of claims-related documentation to verify policy coverage and completeness.
    • Liaise with claims teams, clients, and brokers to ensure smooth coordination and timely processing of claims.
    • Maintain accurate records of claims communications and support documentation for underwriting reference.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Insurance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • 1 year in general underwriting, insurance operations, or broking (UAE/GCC experience preferred).
    • Knowledge of UAE general insurance products.
  • Regulatory: Understanding of UAE insurance regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Familiarity with insurance portals/systems
    • Proficient in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Languages: Fluency in English required; Arabic is a plus.
